A company that became a family: ties and devotion for the best fruit of the earth

 
The Sutto winery is located in a land belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of St. Lorenzetto during the Middle Ages, then passed to the Canons of San Salvatore in Venice who followed the Augustinian rule and, in the Napoleonic era, with the elimination of the religious orders, to the Episcopal Curia of Ceneda.

During the 30s of last century, those lands were purchased by Giuseppe Sutto who increased the grapegrowing, modernizing and enlarging the old rows of native strains and, in particular, those of Raboso Piave. Immediately after World War II, his son Luigi renewed the vineyards and later on Luigi’s son, named Ferruccio, enlarged the company buying the neighbouring land during the last decades of last century. Ferruccio eradicated old vines and planted new ones, with selected strains, following the most modern techniques of viticultural science.

In recent years, Ferruccio’s sons, Stefano e Luigi, continue to renew the vineyards according to the instructions of the Experimental Institute for Viticulture in Conegliano, widening the range of vine types, taking into consideration the features of the land and, above all, decreasing even more the production per hectare in order to obtain those great wines produced here since Ancient Times.
